Top 10 Things To Look For Before Starting A Home Based Business By Jennifer Whittemore There are so many opportunities to work at home. But how do you decide what is right for you? Many of you have joined network marketing companies. Many of you, like I, want to make money from the comfort of home without all the hassles of commuting, dealing with a boss, working the pre-set exact hours, taking vacation when it was approved by 3 different managers, and making the money they determined I was worth. The hassles go on and on. So deciding what company to join can also be a daunting. There are literally thousands of opportunities available. Determining what the best is could take months of research. Google the key words work at home and you will get 1.71 BILLION results. This is just 1 related search you could do. So after years of first hand experience, I wanted to put together a checklist of must haves for any opportunity I could potentially support. What most people are looking to do is make fantastic money, putting only part time hours to do it. Simply put, this is IMPOSSIBLE with most network marketing, and or MLM opportunities. 1. 100% Automated marketing system. This means that all is required is driving leads to a lead capture page. The system uses an auto-responder and a professional sales person calls all my applications. This means you or your team does not have to be a sales professional to close sales. 2. A rock solid product. Ask whether the product you are selling has a value of what you are asked to pay for the product. Often work at home opportunities sell products that are worth very little if they were sold without the money making opportunity they are sold with. 3. A rock solid company. The company must have the marketers best interest always at stake when making business decisions. Most importantly, the business should be gainfully operated for at least a year. 4. Fantastic ad copy and lead capture pages. Most companies leave it to the individual marketer to design, and maintain a lead capture site. This is faulty thinking. Many people who join an opportunity will not have a clue as to write a great lead capture page. Therefore any success you may have will most likely not be duplicable. 5. Auto responder messages that sell. These e-mail messages must have such good copy as to convert prospects into buyers. This is the name of the game. Most companies out there expect regular people to all of the sudden write e-mail messages that sell. 99% people do not know how to write great copy. Therefore, their auto responder system does not work. If the company you are considering has an auto-responder in place, is it well written without spelling and grammatical errors? This could be a big turn-off to your prospects. 6. A company and sponsor that will help you advertise effectively. This is a key component to your success. Simply put, without getting the word out you have no business being in business. If it is a MLM business your sponsor, and or company, must teach you to effectively do in home presentations, and use great phone skills to get ahead. Plus, you must be comfortable utilizing your warm market. Furthermore, if it's direct sales you are considering, the company and sponsor must be able to have many effective avenues for advertising. These should be pay per click with Google and Yahoo, (make sure your sponsor sets this up for you!!) effective article marketing, magazine advertising, press releases, blogging, YouTube, and use of Aweber auto-responder. These are must haves! Lastly, if your sponsor and or company ask you to advertise in a newspaper, run fast! This is a tell tale sign of a rookie! 7. Fantastic Calls. How do you and your team stay pumped up? Fantastic calls with real information you can use to build your business. They should have top income earners, industry leaders, and real people who have made an impact quickly on the calls. 8. A Company with a bigger WHY!! Yes, there are many direct sales and MLM companies that give back, and see the larger world view. This is the hallmark of a company being lead by big thinkers and big doers. Ask your company why are you in business? Do they give back to communities, or are they just a bunch of money hungry scammers? 9. Simplicity. Is the product concept something almost anyone could or would want to use? Can it be explained in 2 sentences or less? Very critical here! The more you explain, the less you sell, and sponsor. If you have a difficult time explaining or understanding your products and or services, so will everyone else. 10. Likeability of the brand and image of the company. Ask yourself, would my Mom or someone I really respected like this company, and what it sells. You have got to proud of your company, and what you are selling, or you will be out of business in less than 6 months guaranteed. In conclusion, too many people will join sub standard home based business opportunities. They will spend way too much money for advertising, and business promotion. They will burn through tons of money learning the hard way how to make money at home. This must be stopped. The home based business industry can no longer continue to do business as usual. Review any opportunity closely, and increase your odds of success. Join a company that has all 10 of these criteria fully met, and then some.
